Frequently asked questions

Don't see your question?

Message us on WhatsApp or write to info@gyvmedical.com. We reply during Urgent Care hours.

Ask a question
Do you give the flu and HPV vaccines?

Yes. Also tetanus, hepatitis, chickenpox, meningococcal and typhoid. We don't offer the yellow fever vaccine at the moment. Some are available by order, so message us first to confirm.

Do you vaccinate at home?

Only for companies: we organize vaccination days at their facilities. For you or your family, vaccines are given here, at Torre Mediplaza.

Do I get proof of vaccination?

Yes. We give you a card that documents the vaccine you received. If you bring your vaccination card, we also record the dose there.

I'm traveling. How far ahead should I get vaccinated?

Typhoid at least 2 weeks before you travel. Message us early, since some vaccines are by order. We don't offer the yellow fever vaccine at the moment: if your destination requires it, we'll tell you where to get it.

An animal bit me. Can I get the rabies vaccine?

We get the rabies vaccine by order, so don't wait for us to confirm: wash the wound with soap and water for 15 minutes and come to Urgent Care today. We treat the wound and check whether you need the vaccine, which must start as soon as possible; if we don't have it that day, we tell you where to get it without delay.

Do you vaccinate on weekends and holidays?

Yes, we vaccinate during Urgent Care hours, including Sundays and holidays. Some vaccines depend on availability: message us before you come and we'll confirm.

Do I need an appointment to get vaccinated?

We recommend booking to make sure the vaccine is available. Message us on WhatsApp.

What should I bring?

Your ID and, if you have it, your vaccination card or your child's, so we can record the dose and check which vaccines are due. If you don't bring it, we give you a vaccination record card for the vaccine you received. Before your shot, tell us if you are or could be pregnant, are breastfeeding, have a weakened immune system (from an illness, chemotherapy or steroids) or ever had a strong reaction to a vaccine: some vaccines, like MMR and chickenpox, are not given in those cases.

Do vaccines have side effects?

The most common are soreness, redness or swelling where the shot was given, or a mild fever for a day or two. With MMR or chickenpox vaccines, a fever or mild rash can appear 5 to 12 days later. Stay at the clinic for 15 to 30 minutes after your shot. If there is trouble breathing, swelling of the face or lips, hives all over the body, a seizure, or a baby who cries nonstop for more than 3 hours or is very floppy, it is an emergency: call 911. Our staff will explain what to expect with each vaccine.
